lalala love and more of miss satijn

It's chilly as can be out this morning and I'm having a hard time setting down my cup of tea to get ready for the day. Alas, it's not all bad. Cozy essentially equals time to catch up on blogs and scout the interwebs for whatever tickles my fancy at the moment.

This morning I thought I'd see what one of my favorite stylists, Iris Satijn, has been up too as of late, and came across this video she styled for Room Eleven. The result...Miss Iris' styling is impeccable and darling as always. The red tutuesque outfit is simple but just about as cute as can be, and I'm basically loving everything about the video from the Dutch yet seemingly French French music to the bits of stop motion. Janne Schra's voice is one of distinct beauty and I'm loving the banjo player. Oh...And the rag time style pianist!

it's all in the genes

Strange...People tell me all the time how much I look like my Mom, but my Granny, that's a new one! I mean, I've always thanked my Granny for my love of sewing and general craftiness, but never had I thought about my features. We look a bit alike no? Between me, my mom, her twin sister and my two lady cousins, the women in my family carry some strong genes that's for sure!

Oh and by the way, I promise more photos and stories about Granny in the near future like the posting I did back in November. I was actually working on one yesterday but got distracted when I realized how much I take after her! What about you, any striking resemblances to folks in your family?

what's to come

I've been collecting plus size vintage pieces for the past few months, and was planning on doing a nice little photo shoot to launch the start of bigger sizes in the shop. The past couple of weeks, though, I've been a bit antsy in my search for a model. Basically I've had zero luck so this morning I decided to go ahead and shoot a few of the dresses. Ugh. It's true, the photos aren't cohesive with my usual style, but I'm still on the search for one lovely lady! Until then, I present you with...My ever glamorous bedroom wall!

I quickly lost light this afternoon, so only a couple will be in the shop tonight. But don't you fret, what's not up tonight will be there tomorrow! These lovelies range in size from 10-14. Oh...And if you've got advice on how to make these model-less photos more interesting, I love to hear from you!

Cold weather is finally here! And to celebrate the occassion, I pulled out my Uncle Jon's wool sailor pants straight from the 1960s. I never actually met him as he died in a cropdusting accident in the late 1970s, but I've heard so many stories about him over the years that I sometimes forget we've never met. It's hard to believe they actually fit me...A bit loose but warm and cozy all the same.

new year & changes galore

Waking up this morning, the slew of changes taking place in my life was running wild in my head. I can't say right now, but they've got me terribly excited for the next few months to come.

With all these changes already in the works, I thought, why not add another dimension to the blog. Tons of you gals already feature your daily wears, and I adore clicking through for both fashion and photographic inspiration. The thing is, I've always been a bit shy to photograph my own.

After a tummy full of delicious black eyed peas, I snapped a few photos and voila...Here's to the start of something new!
