just one of those days

Scatterbrain. If I was one of those Word-A-Day calendars, this would be my April 26, 2010. Do you ever have those days where you just can't seem to get it together? So much to do but so little focus. Running around from task to task but never actually getting anything accomplished. Writing fragment sentence after fragment sentence.

Yes, well, that is me today and I'm even feeling it as I type this very moment! I suppose it all started when I rolled out of bed and discovered we were out of coffee. Being the addict I am, I slipped on the pair of shoes closest to the door and ran out to grab a cup. PJs and dress shoes with a serious case of bedhead and out for Monday morning coffee. Perfect.

And from there, my day has been one big jumble of things I'm trying to get done. Case in point found below.

dear sun

Only one shot for the post I had planned for today! The weather was quite overcast and a bit dismal on top of that. I really didn't think too many walkers would be out especially if I went at lunch time. But, nope, that was not the case! People kept walking down to the beach and I just couldn't concentrate. I get so embarrassed when people watch me take photos. I really just can't do it! End first photo attempt. Drive home. Begin second attempt. Case in point found below.

Only three new listings today for the shop today! Sorry my loves, I'm just not with it as they say. Off to a Zumba class to try to burn off some of this energy that's making me crazy and go into exclamation overload!

It’s a new week and we’re off to a bold start!

On a personal note: You may have noticed that I was absent for a few days last week. I spent part of last week with my mom at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston. She had surgery for melanoma. I was so impressed with MD Anderson…the skill of the doctors and staff, the compassion shown by everyone from the valet parking attendant to the surgeon, and the precision with which the hospital is run each day. If you or a family member ever needs cancer treatment (and I pray you don’t), I would highly recommend MD Anderson. And as we move into summer…l hope you’ll join me in wearing sunscreen…the tan just isn’t worth the risk, in my opinion.

I know these photos really have very little to do with flowers (except the for ‘Kermit’ mums in the second one), but they are the most amazing “engagement ring” photos I’ve ever seen! Just had to share them with you…

a clogging girl at heart

I'm going to be completely honest with you. I cannot stop watching this video. It claims to be the best bluegrass clogging video ever made, and by golly I have no argument against it! I love it, I really do. I love the open mouths of concentration. The oval framed photos of aged kin. The half-toothed smile of the fiddle player.

It's made me realize that I need to perfect my clogging, now! Commence research on clogging in Washington...I'm sorry, that just doesn't even sound right, but seriously I need to learn. I've been looking for an adult tap class and clogging seems to be in the same genre so I would be happy to find either.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it or not but I am a absolute lover of dance. A sucker for dance in any form or fashion. Like any good Southern girl, I studied ballet and jazz growing up. I interned with the ballet in university, studied classical Thai dance for a heartbeat and even did a little Bollywood performance last year in Austin. But back to my point, clogging, I will take it up. And when I do oh my how I would love to have this little ensemble to perform in!
