a few changes

Things have been quieter than usual around here over the past weekend and surrounding days as the last minute details of my cousin's wedding were in full swing.

I had planned on documenting it to share, but alas, that didn't happen. Too many things to do! I managed to snap a photo of her while hiding from the chaos in the bathroom about an hour before we headed to the chapel.

Doesn't she look gorgeous? Hopefully I can snag a few photos from the photographer and other folks to share. Until then, this is all I've got.

On another note, I've been steadily working on a few changes in the shop, namely the photography. Here's a sneak peak of the new look. I've still got some kinks to work out, but it's going quite well. What do you think?

Oh, and before I get back to work, don't forget to enter the $50 giveaway I've got for the shop. Happy Monday!

the wedding

Austin. Geneva. Tournon-sur-Rhone. Geneva. Nairobi. Moshi. Kilimanjaro. Moshi. Nairobi. Geneva. Austin. And I'm back. My two and a half weeks of whirlwind holiday came to a close Saturday night when I flew into Austin Bergstrom.

Of course I had to share a few photos from the wedding in Tournon. It was a complete blur of French wine, homemade cider, food, food and food. But here's where we started...

Danny drove in from Germany for the occasion, missing his exhibition opening in Frankfurt. On a side note, if you happen to be reading from Germany, I would highly suggest you check it out.

We piled into his tiny Euro rental and headed to the church to hang out in the narrow cobblestone streets with this lovely lady before she walked down the aisle. La plus belle mariée à Tournon, non?

The entire experience was one of surreal beauty. How did we get from swapping clothes in our clammy suburban cross country locker room 15 years ago to this? The time in between seems to pass simultaneously in haze and clarity, always exciting.

Goofing around. Holding each others bags. Brotherly pestering. Things have changed, of course, but not really so much. Time. It was time. A quick drink before the ceremony. Beer in one hand, roses in the other. My Nancy.

And then, they were married. Cheers of happiness erupted in the church, running out into the streets where we showered them in lavender. A beautiful ceremony followed by (I'm not even exaggerating here) 11 hours of partying. It's a wonder I made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro the following week, but more on that later!

Congratulations to my dearest friend, Nancy.

tournon-sur-rhone

What to Wear, Dalena Vintage

I'm barely back in Texas, yet in just two weeks I'll be headed to Geneva and hopping on a train to Tournon-sur-Rhone in southern France for my dear friend Nancy's wedding. At least I think I'll be headed there via train. I haven't yet looked into to see if that is actually possible. And, oops, I haven't actually booked my flight. It's on today's agenda along with a list of random other things to do including investigating trekking groups in Tanzania and writing a script for a foodie show on the Thai Food Network.

In the meantime, what to wear to the wedding? To me, these seem quite fitting for the event. We'll see what actually materializes.
