what's to come

I've been collecting plus size vintage pieces for the past few months, and was planning on doing a nice little photo shoot to launch the start of bigger sizes in the shop. The past couple of weeks, though, I've been a bit antsy in my search for a model. Basically I've had zero luck so this morning I decided to go ahead and shoot a few of the dresses. Ugh. It's true, the photos aren't cohesive with my usual style, but I'm still on the search for one lovely lady! Until then, I present you with...My ever glamorous bedroom wall!

I quickly lost light this afternoon, so only a couple will be in the shop tonight. But don't you fret, what's not up tonight will be there tomorrow! These lovelies range in size from 10-14. Oh...And if you've got advice on how to make these model-less photos more interesting, I love to hear from you!

Cold weather is finally here! And to celebrate the occassion, I pulled out my Uncle Jon's wool sailor pants straight from the 1960s. I never actually met him as he died in a cropdusting accident in the late 1970s, but I've heard so many stories about him over the years that I sometimes forget we've never met. It's hard to believe they actually fit me...A bit loose but warm and cozy all the same.

new year & changes galore

Waking up this morning, the slew of changes taking place in my life was running wild in my head. I can't say right now, but they've got me terribly excited for the next few months to come.

With all these changes already in the works, I thought, why not add another dimension to the blog. Tons of you gals already feature your daily wears, and I adore clicking through for both fashion and photographic inspiration. The thing is, I've always been a bit shy to photograph my own.

After a tummy full of delicious black eyed peas, I snapped a few photos and voila...Here's to the start of something new!

Not the greatest of photos I know, but it's a start. I actually preferred the other photos I took, you just couldn't see the outfit. A little self defeating I thought!

what's to come

Nighties. Dresses. Tops. Oh my! It feels like ages since I did a proper update over at the shop. If my evening goes as planned, I'll have all these lovelies up tonight. Enjoy!

If I were to visualize the perfect New Year's Eve in frames and shutter clicks, it would look something like this...

Love. Friends. Family. Food. Drink. Laughter. To me, these photos taken by Tom Palumbo, epitomize the spirit of New Year's Eve.

While Palumbo started out at Harper’s Bazaar and later went on to photograph for Vogue, these images taken in Paris cafés in 1962 near Les Halles remain my favorite. They capture life and emotion in a way rarely found in studio photography. And there's also the fact that I'm a little in love with the dreamy moods he creates with low shutter speeds and honest to goodness film.

Well I'm out in Southern California right now, hence the lack of blogging! Once again, I thought...Oooh, I'll take a working holiday! I mean, that's the beauty of running an online shop, right? After all, the open schedule and ability to work from almost anywhere was one of the more striking joys of turning the shop into my full-time gig. Apparently, though I tend to forget it's a little harder than it seems!

I haven't been keeping up with actual news, let alone my favorite blogs. I don't think I've ever done a repost before but you know what, I'm on vacation and feeling a bit lazy at that. And when I came across the Ruche Winter Lookbook via Sally Jane Vintage, I couldn't resist. Socks, stockings and tights with boots of any sort are a staple in my Winter wardrobe, and the Ruche Winter Lookbook styled them in ways that I've been to afraid to wear for fear of looking like a little girl playing dress up.





Don't you just love these pairings? I'm heading up to LA this afternoon to hit up a few vintage shops...Perhaps I can get my hands on a set of heels or even better, Oxfords, to wear with a pair of flouncy socks.
